Google Inc., started as a company in the September of 1998 by founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin officially celebrates its birthday on the 27th of September every year. The domain was registered on the 15th of September while the company was filed for incorporation on the 4th.
As Google enters teenage, it is already a huge company. Its search engine (the company's first service) dominates search share by a lot. Last month, it was handling about 65% of all the searches.
Google is an advertising company. Most of its consumer services are free. Its main source of revenue is online advertising. (Look around Right Now In Tech and you'll see several ads by Google).
