HTC seems to believe that a tiny, dumb-phone can be a great companion to your oversized smartphone. In China, they have introduced the HTC Mini, a small, ergonomic phone to supplement your large all-in-one device.
HTC Mini, a small, basic phone that comes with the Butterfly in China is meant to be used as a companion with its larger sibling.
The Mini is NFC- and Bluetooth-enabled, and it works with the large phone in your pocket, displaying notifications, texts etc.
It can also help you locate your lost smartphone by triggering an alert in the lost phone. It can also act as a remote if you use your smartphone to watch something on a TV. It also acts as a remote trigger for the Butterfly's camera.
While I think the idea is very interesting, I don't think I would want it. Why keep your expensive phone/phablet confined to your pocket most of the time? I don't want any more fragmentation of my already rich device ecosystem. In my opinion, I'd like to see a smartphone be even better linked to a tablet, maybe acting as a remote for it and whatnot.
